QR Codes Were Invented for Something Completely Different!
QR codes are everywhere today — from payments to restaurants to tickets. But QR codes were never originally created for public use.
In 1994, Japanese engineer Masahiro Hara developed the QR code while working at the Japanese company Denso Wave.
At the time, factories needed a faster way to track automobile parts. Traditional barcodes could not store enough information, so Masahiro Hara created a new type of code that could hold far more data and be scanned rapidly from any angle.
That invention became the QR code.
In this video, we explain:
• Who invented QR codes
• Why QR codes were originally created
• How QR codes work
• Why QR codes became so successful worldwide
• How QR codes changed modern digital life
The QR code started as a simple industrial solution — and ended up transforming how the world connects and pays digitally.
