A blind man named Albert Rizzi, accompanied by his guide dog Doxy, faced a challenge during a flight from Philadelphia to Long Island, New York. Despite Rizzi's inability to stow Doxy under the seat due to his seating position in the back row with no space in front, a flight attendant insisted on having the dog stowed elsewhere. Rizzi proposed that the dog remain under his seat instead, but the attendant repeatedly demanded compliance without offering assistance. During a 45-minute wait on the tarmac, the dog stayed under Rizzi's seat, posing no disturbance. The situation escalated when Rizzi was escorted off the plane, leading nearly 30 passengers to protest by disembarking as well, refusing to continue their journey without Rizzi and his guide dog. In response, US Airways stated that Rizzi had become "instructive" and failed to follow crew instructions. The airline announced they were reviewing the handling of the situation.
