This Tiny Robot Has The Fastest Pathfinding Algorithm

Line-following robots may look simple, but navigating a course like this is anything but easy. Using infrared sensors, they detect the contrast between dark lines and lighter surfaces, making split-second decisions without any human control.

These competition tracks are intentionally packed with sharp turns, overlapping patterns, zigzags, and intersections designed to confuse the robots. The real challenge is programming them to identify the fastest route among countless possibilities, and these two Kakarobot machines made it all the way to the final.
