Taking Your Pet On A Train? 🐶

Travelling with a pet on Indian Railways is possible, but only if the rules are followed. Depending on your budget and comfort requirements, there are two official ways to travel with your pet.

Option 1: Animal Box (Guard's Cabin)

• Book your pet through the railway parcel office before departure.

• Carry your travel ticket, a valid ID, and your pet's ownership and vaccination documents.

• Charges start from around ₹30 and increase with distance.

• These compartments are not air-conditioned, so carry food, water, and a blanket to keep your pet comfortable during the journey.

Option 2: Travel Inside First AC

• Pets are allowed inside the coach only if the entire 2-berth or 4-berth coupe is allotted to you.

• After booking your ticket, submit a request to the Chief Reservation Officer through the DRM office explaining that you are travelling with a pet.

• Parcel booking formalities and vaccination documents are still mandatory before boarding.

Pet parcel registration can also be done online, making the process more convenient.
