Driving was one of the first things I cared about when I got out of the hospital.

Not as a “goal.”
As a requirement.

My rehab situation was pretty unique, I was able to go back after being home for a week, and one of the biggest things I needed to learn was driving.

So… I snuck out of rehab on Sundays to go to driver’s ed.
Yes, I’m serious. My dad would come pick me up and I would go spend hours behind the wheel.

Getting a car and forcing myself to learn how to get my chair in and out was hands-down one of the most important things I’ve done for my independence.

Since being paralyzed in 2015, I’ve driven across the country three times and I drove the entire East Coast in one summer… Florida all the way to Maine.

I’ve put 300,000+ miles on the road as a paraplegic.

Here’s how I get my chair in and out of my vehicle. This series will be added to the Wheel With Me Adapt Fit Transfer series soon!

Here’s my set up-
🚙: Mercedes Benz AMG GLB 35
♿️: Box Wheelchairs Daily Suspension Chair
🦽: Spinergy Wheelz XSLX
