Tesla: The Most 'FLOP CAR' in History of India! Only 342 Sold #shorts
FactTechz
Recently, reports showed that Tesla sold just 342 cars in India in the financial year 2025–26. This number is very low, especially for such a big global company.
Tesla had entered the Indian market around mid-2025 and started selling only one model, the Model Y SUV. But even after several months, total sales remained very limited.
One major reason for this low number is the very high price. The Model Y costs around ₹60–70 lakh in India because it is imported and faces heavy taxes. This makes it too expensive for most buyers in a price-sensitive market like India.
Another issue is limited options. Tesla currently offers only one car in India, while other companies like Tata, Mahindra, and MG offer many cheaper electric cars. So buyers have more affordable choices.
Also, India’s electric car market is still growing. Even though EV sales are increasing, they still make up a small part of total car sales, which also affects Tesla’s performance.
