This Brother’s Simple Act Moved Millions ❤️ | Heartwarming Sibling Moment
International Parenting Health Institute
Back in 2020, one beautiful moment between a brother and sister reminded the world what encouragement, inclusion, and sibling love can look like.
When 9-year-old Abby MacCurtain couldn’t reach the basketball hoop from her wheelchair, her 7-year-old brother, Tomas MacCurtain, cheered her on:
“You can do it.”
He didn’t focus on what she couldn’t do.
He believed in what she could do and then lowered the basketball hoop so Abby could make the shot herself.
Sometimes, the greatest act of kindness isn’t doing something for someone.
It’s encouraging them, believing in them, and helping remove the barrier so they can experience the moment for themselves.
That beautiful moment, captured by their father, Greg MacCurtain, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, was shared around the world and featured by Good Morning America, ABC News, Telemundo, Daily Mail, India Times, and many other news outlets.
Sometimes empathy isn’t complicated.
Sometimes it’s simply asking,
“How can I help someone be included?”
Every child deserves to feel seen, included, and capable. 🥹💕
