Tata Electronics Hacked? Over 2 Lakh Confidential Files Allegedly Leaked, Apple and Tesla Data Also Claimed Exposed

Tata Electronics, one of India's fastest-growing electronics manufacturers and a key supplier to Apple and Tesla, has confirmed that it was hit by a cyberattack after a ransomware group claimed to have stolen and leaked more than 200,000 confidential files from the company's systems. The incident has emerged as one of the biggest cybersecurity breaches involving an Indian manufacturing company in recent years.

According to reports, the ransomware group World Leaks has uploaded over 630 GB of data to the dark web, claiming it includes confidential engineering documents, manufacturing blueprints, emails, passport scans, internal communications and proprietary files belonging not only to Tata Electronics but also to global technology giants such as Apple, Tesla, Qualcomm and TSMC. Security researchers who examined samples of the leaked data said they found documents carrying Apple confidentiality markings and Tesla trade-secret labels, although the complete authenticity of the entire dataset has not yet been independently verified.

Tata Electronics has acknowledged that a cybersecurity incident affected parts of its IT infrastructure. However, the company emphasized that its manufacturing operations continue to function normally and that there has been no disruption to production. Following the breach, Tata launched a forensic investigation with the help of external cybersecurity experts, informed the Indian government and its global clients, and tightened internal security measures by restricting employee access to sensitive systems, particularly through remote connections.

The incident has drawn international attention because Tata Electronics has become one of Apple's most important manufacturing partners in India. The company produces iPhone components and is playing a central role in Apple's strategy to diversify production away from China. Analysts say any major cyberattack affecting Tata could have implications for the global electronics supply chain if sensitive design or manufacturing information is compromised.

The breach has also triggered widespread discussion across Indian social media. Many users expressed concern over the cybersecurity preparedness of large Indian corporations, especially those handling sensitive global manufacturing data. Others questioned whether personal information of employees or customers may have been exposed, while several users urged companies to invest more aggressively in cybersecurity as India expands its role as a global electronics manufacturing hub.

Cybersecurity experts say the attack serves as a reminder that ransomware groups are increasingly targeting manufacturing companies rather than just financial institutions or technology firms. As India attracts more global investment in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, experts believe cyber resilience will become just as important as physical infrastructure in protecting the country's growing industrial ecosystem.

Although investigations are still underway, the incident has become one of the most significant cybersecurity stories of the year. Whether the leaked files ultimately prove authentic in full or not, the attack highlights the growing cyber risks facing Indian companies operating at the heart of global technology supply chains.
