After 3 years of restoring our abandoned 200-year-old watermill in Portugal, today was supposed to be just another renovation day... but life had other plans.
When our cat, Baby, became seriously ill, we were suddenly forced to make a decision we weren't expecting: move into our unfinished dream home immediately. What should have been a carefully planned milestone became an emotional race against time as we transformed our renovation site into a safe place for her to recover.
Along the way, we finally set up our bedroom, slept in our home for the very first time, and installed the modern cable railings that our historic watermill needed to finally feel safe and complete. It wasn't the move-in day we imagined—but it became one we'll never forget.
