Horse Branding Hack

One of the craziest ranch hacks I’ve ever seen was at a ranch out in Arizona 2 years ago. The owner said “I’m going to brand this horse with no anesthesia or drugs and it won’t kick or nothing.” I thought he was crazy, but it gotten even wilder when he handed me a stick and told me to tap on her hindquarters and don’t stop. After a few minutes I thought I was getting pranked or something. But then he came by with the hot iron, proceeded to quickly brand her, and she barely moved. I couldn’t believe it! I’m not sharing this as a recommendation or anything, but I thought it was so interesting and would love to hear if anyone has done this method of branding?
