২৬ আগস্ট ২০২৬। তিব্বত-নেপাল সীমান্তের উচ্চ হিমালয়ে শুরু হয় একের পর এক বিপর্যয়ের শৃঙ্খল। প্রথমে ধরা পড়ে ৪.৪ মাত্রার একটি সেসমিক সিগন্যাল। সেটি ভূমিকম্প ছিল, নাকি বিশাল কোনো পাহাড়ধসের কম্পন—তা এখনো পুরোপুরি নিশ্চিত নয়। তবে স্যাটেলাইট বিশ্লেষণ বলছে, প্রায় ৫,২০০ মিটার উচ্চতায় একটি হিমবাহের অংশ ভেঙে পড়ার পরই শুরু হয় ঘটনাপ্রবাহ।
On August 26, 2026, a chain of disasters unfolded in the high Himalayas along the Tibet–Nepal border. It began with a magnitude 4.4 seismic signal that was initially suspected to be an earthquake. However, satellite imagery later suggested that a massive glacier and rock collapse at an elevation of around 5,200 meters may have triggered the event.
