$1000 dinner, $20 dinner.
Mine comes through a line — TPN, IV nutrition that runs for 18 hours because my stomach is paralyzed from gastroparesis caused by CRPS. That single bag costs about $1,000 before insurance, and it’s how my body gets what it needs to function.
Theirs was around $20. Simple, comforting, shared at the table.
I know it probably seems strange to make food you can’t eat, but it gives me a sense of normalcy I didn’t realize I’d miss so much. I’ve only lived this way for a short chapter of my life — before chronic illness, dinner looked very different for me. Cooking helps me stay connected to my family and to who I was before my body changed the rules.
