POV: you’re a young dad trying to teach her baby to swim 🤿🤩

Sarah turns won this month and we haven’t had a proper one-on-one swimming lesson. I’m so proud of her. She did so good!
I was especially impressed that she didn’t cry because water can be a pretty scary thing, especially for little kids that are learning to keep it out of their nose and mouth when swimming.
Some people think this is too young to try to teach a baby to swim. As a family that’s around the water a lot, it’s super important to us that our kids develop swimming skills early to prevent drowning.
Our toddler, Jay, is two years old and is capable of swimming just about half the distance of the pool if he really needed to to save himself. He can grab onto the side of the pool and pull himself out. He wouldn’t be anywhere near this level unless we had done the uncomfortable work of throwing him in the water since he was a baby.
This is not our first time throwing sarah in the water. She’s been in the water often since she was born. I look forward to the day that her and I get to surf together, and because she’s comfortable in the water, her fear won’t hold her back from all the fun that we will have.
