This technique goes back to the industrial-design days, but someone loved it so much they turned it into art. They start with a simple line sketch and loosely block in color using markers. Then they add darker layers on top, and the flat drawing suddenly gets a 3D look. The method, called “marker rendering” was made for quick idea sketches, so it’s usually a little rough. But this artist is all about the details and cleans up the edges, bringing the whole piece to life.
