Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman has officially assumed office as the President of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. Taking over from outgoing President Annalena Baerbock in the presence of UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Rahman emphasized multilateralism and dialogue to address global crises. His one-year tenure will prominently feature leading the selection process for the next UN Secretary-General before Guterres' term concludes on December 31, 2026.
