We Fix Stupid Computers
This is how data recovery of spilled liquid on floppies weee done back in the day.

I cut open a 5.25” floppy disk and inserted only the magnetic media into an original IBM XT floppy drive to see if it would still spin and read.

No outer shell.
No protection.
Just raw magnetic film spinning while the read/write head moves back and forth.

This is how early 1980s PC storage actually worked — thin plastic coated in iron oxide, spinning at 300 RPM inside a full-height drive.

Vintage computing was beautifully mechanical.

Would you have tried this in 1983?

Tech Details:
• 5.25” floppy disk
• IBM XT era drive
• Single-sided magnetic media
• 300 RPM spin speed
